Welcome to the Denmark Hen Alliance blog, where our feathered journey takes flight! We're thrilled to kick off this platform to share our story, mission, and the exciting adventure of advocating for responsible chicken-keeping practices within our village.

Our origin story is rooted in the voices of community members expressing their desire to raise hens in Denmark. In response, we sprang into action, organizing informative meetings and rallying volunteers. Thus, the Denmark Hen Alliance was hatched.

Our mission is clear: to foster open communication and champion responsible chicken ownership practices within village limits. We find it curious that, despite permitting other potentially hazardous animals, responsible chicken ownership is often overlooked. The penalties for keeping a chicken, as outlined in the Denmark Code, are surprisingly severe, and we believe it's time for a change.

As a community with a rich agricultural heritage, embracing responsible hen-raising aligns with our values. We believe it contributes to the character of our village and establishes a connection to our farming roots. Our journey involves rectifying the current ban on chickens and working collaboratively with the village board and citizens.

Moving forward, the Denmark Hen Alliance aims to petition for a well-defined, sensible ordinance that allows for responsible hen-raising in our community. We envision a change that aligns with the principles outlined by organizations like the FFA and 4H, benefiting our community as a whole.
